Tenor Antonio Carangelo is a native of Lecce, Italy. He had his musical training at the Conservatoire de Musique in Geneva and the Accademia d'Arte Lirica in Osimo, Italy, and perfected his vocal technique with Mario del Monaco and with Ettore Campogalliani, the teacher also of Luciano Pavarotti and Mirella Freni. He made his first operatic appearance as Remondado in Carmen at the Grand Theatre de Génève in 1978 and went on to sing leading tenor roles with the opera companies of Osimo, Lecce, Bergamo, Udine, and Milan, Italy; Lyon and Saint Etienne in France; Tokyo and New York (New York Grand Opera Company); in a repertoire including "Rigoletto", "La Traviata", "Ernani", "I Masnadieri" and "Macbeth" of Verdi, "Tosca", "La Boheme", "Madama Butterfly", "Gianni Schicchi" and "Il Tabarro" of Puccini; "Lucia" and "L'Elisir d'Amore" of Donizetti; Mascagni's "L'Amico Fritz", Massenet's "Werther" and Mozart's "Don Giovanni" etc.In recent years Maestro Carangelo has dedicated himself to intensive vocal coaching. He opened his own voice Academy (CARANGELO ACADEMY)in Vienna and is leading international masterclasses all over Europe, where he pass on his rich experience and knowledge to eager singers.
