SINGAPORE: Filipino singing sensation Charice Pempengco, who wowed crowds recently at the F1 Grand Prix in Singapore, insists she's still a regular teen at heart despite her international fame.
"I love cars, I love racing and everything, and when they actually told me that I was going to be part of this, I said that it was going to be really, really cool," says the 19 year old who hit all the right notes when she performed in Singapore as part of the F1 festivities.
"The first time I performed, it was like 20,000 people, it was actually overwhelming."
Although Charice is no stranger to Singapore, there were still plenty of things to do on her list.
"I actually want to go to Universal here. I just want to see if there is a little difference from the Universal in the States because I love those kind of stuff."
Charice, the tiny girl with humongous vocals, was first discovered in 2007 on YouTube.
She was touted as the Most Talented girl in the World, by Oprah Winfrey.
Charice has since burst unto the international music scene, including appearances in popular TV show Glee as "Sunshine Corazon", a Filipino foreign exchange student.
Charice says she had a great time working with the cast of Glee -- and it seems the feeling is mutual, since she counts some of them as her fans.
"My favourite character is Santana - Naya Rivera," Charice says.
"I think she is very nice because of the way she approached me when I was there for the first time. She knew all the things about me.
"And it really made me feel special, she was really nice."
Charice will release a new album -- "Infinity" -- on 5 October.
She co-wrote one of its tracks -- "Lighthouse" -- with British singer Natasha Bedingfield.
