@thariq33 ballasts are about $100, bulbs are about $30. I use net pots ($1-$4) and hydroton instead of soil. I use aquarium air pumps ($10) and grey air stones ($2-$5) under the net pots to give the roots extra air. I would say about $250 to get all the good basics.
