They say that to get music noticed you must be interesting at the beginning, but this piece seems to take an infinity to get nowhere......alot of screeching and surely no rival to the Italian four seasons of Vivaldi. Though elsewhere Glass does captivate but not here in my view.

The song and arrangement is beautiful, Susan sings it very convincingly and I am sure it is a song that can and will be covered successfully in the future by others.

Personally, I would hesitate to use the epithet "genius" for Glass, if we are also to apply it to the likes of Mozart and Verdi.

Such a fine line....the love of beauty, the longing for youth, one's own, or to have it vicariously, the allure and slip into pederasty are all here, in the flower and tragedy also of life and the pulsing breath of a mortal all too mortal condition.
