I found myself singing O Day Full of Grace this morning--yes, a glorious morning in the Adirondacks, the sun glistening on the snow--and was surprised that I remembered most of the words some fifty years after last having sung it. This was a testament to the teaching of Mr. Thayer, so I decided to google him and found myself on this wonderful website, listening to a recording in which I was one fortunate choruster. Having lost my record of it to a flood two decades ago, I have been exploring this website, crying and singing and most of all remebering how formative an influence Thayer was on me and how deeply I am indebted to him and the experience of singing in this choir.

Thank you.

Thanks. This is a terrific site. I was in the choir from '61-'64. Remember how much fun we had Christmas Caroling? I now live in the Atlanta area. If any of you live locally, let me know. lyn paul Schenbeck '64

What wonderful recordings! Is the choir still doing this well? I sure hope so!

I just added 33 new recordings from 1963, 1966, 1968, 1970, 1973 and 1984! I have even included the Madrigal Singers (1968) and the Girls and Boys Octets (1968). There is a LOT more to go!! Enjoy until the next installment!!

You are the best John. I have many albums but no way to play them. Thank you so much. xoxo

Such a good collection! congratulations on your efforts to gather up the hard work of years where so many emotions and work was put together to produce this fine repertoire. I wish all the good ensembles would have been able to have good recordings of past joys like this ones!

Thank you, John for posting these wonderful Calhoun memories. I was in the first Calhoun Choir - graduating in 1960. We have our 50th reunion this July. Thanks to choral directors like Talbot Thayer and you, music has helped to make my life so enjoyable. Thank goodness I still have the opportunity to sing. I sing with the Lehigh University Choral Union under the direction of Dr. Steven Sametz - who also is a gift from God. One of his compositions sums it all up: I Have Had Singing. Kathy Gillies Leber

Wow, I love Madame Jeanette, and only this past year, I had the honor to peform it with GA's High School GMEA. It is a wonderful piece, and our conductor actually told us to go to this site and listen to it to learn it. Truly a magnificient piece of work. Good Job!

It's wonderful to hear these recordings again. Thank you for posting them. It might be age, but I remembered every note, word, entrance and pause in "Apostrophe." (Do you remember how we were stumped during SATs when the question was "What does N.B. mean?" and "No Breath" wasn't one of the options?) Tal, you've been in my thoughts so often when I pause to think about people who had a strong positive effect on my life. Larry Cohan CHS 67

John, thank you SO very much for all of these. It has been a delight. Next can we have "O Come, O Come Emanuel"? I believe it was on a live Christmas recording from 1970. ( Peter?)
