Hi everyone, my name is Jonny
I upload mainly videos of me playing the piano. I like to play music from the video games that I've played, and Chopin.

I'm 22 years old, and live in Canada.
I'm studying Mining Engineering at the
University of British Columbia

If anyone would like to add me to msn, my email is jonnay_@hotmail.com
although...I might be a bit busy at times

If anyone would like the mp3 to any of my vids, just let me know. The quality of these mp3's sadly are of the same quality as heard from the videos.

I dont like to say that I dont accept requests. Just give it a try and cross your fingers I guess. There's no way I'll ever keep up with them anyway. What I generally do is put them in the order accepted, and prioritize them a certain way. Typically, i'll be working on something out of my own interest, and something else from the requests list.

Here's a little bit about me, and my history in Piano. I'll try to answer some FAQs too along the way.

I've been playing the piano for roughly 5 years now. I started when I was 16. The motivation was the movie The Pianist. This is why Im such a Chopin freak... and with the game music...I've always been a gamer. I regard myself as a self-taught piano player, or amateur Pianist. But here's the truth:
I took lessons when I was a kid (can't remember when) but it didn't stick with me. My teacher refused to teach me, because I clearly showed no interest in learning, so I stopped shortly after. Then, 5 years ago, I decided to pick it back up again, and study the piano, on my own.

So this leads nicely to an answer to a FAQ, for people who want to follow in my footsteps or follow my methods. My ingredients for Success: Interest and Devotion. People ask for advice a lot, and I hope this information is useful, because not everyone can afford a Piano and music lessons. So here's what I would do if you really want to learn how to play the piano, and this is all from my experience. Start out just like how I did. If you really want to play the piano, but are not sure if it'll work for you, start with a cheap keyboard. It shouldn't cost you that much. Find a piano teacher, and invest in roughly 2-3 months worth of lessons. (Piano teachers are going to hate me for saying this but..) The goal is to learn the basics, and then quit lessons. The amount of money needed for years and years of lessons is ridiculous, and in my experience, after you've learned the basics, you are only paying the teacher for guidance. So what Im getting at is, if you have the interest and dedication, like I did, there's nothing holding you back from becoming what you want to become, but what you need is a head start, and you need to know the basics. Make your own judgment on when to quit; it may be more than 3 months, depending on how comfortable you are with reading sheets. Take the time to look at some very challenging music. After about 3 months of lessons, you should know enough to be able to read and understand almost any sheet music. The only problem is...it'll likely take you years to be able to play the sheet music you are looking at :P

After the learning the basics, I recommend buying books that emphasize technique, such as scales books. Learning piano theory is always a plus, but having almost no knowledge in piano theory, I'd say you would fine without it.

So all this is my advice to answer this faq, but keep in mind that it is strictly from my experience. Here's my #1 tip in practicing and improving in piano: Always listen to the music, get more mature with more sophisticated classical music, and listen to as many different interpretations/performers as you can. You will come to understand the different styles of each pianist, and later on, you will develop your own. Always listen to music, this is serve as your guidance, but NEVER mimic an interpretation. You have to understand the music, feel the music, and play the music.
