About this user

SamCee was born and raised in Oakland, California. As a young child, it was apparent that he had been blessed with the ability to draw. He used his talent to escape the battles and adversities of a child growing up in poverty and with parents that struggled with substance abuse.

SamCee and his two brothers spent their early childhood years in and out of the Foster Care System until he was about 12 years old. A great uncle took them in. What was to be a few months, but soon turned into many years. This uncle became the father figure that the siblings desired to have in their lives and he provided them with the guidance that helped them become the men they are today.

SamCee also enjoyed football and he played frequently throughout his youth. He played with a variety of local football leagues, such as the Oakland Dynamites and the Berkeley Cougars. While attending Oakland Technical High School, he continued to play football. He also enjoyed baseball, basketball and wrestling. But SamCees ability to play sports ended due to a serious neck injury. Though he still had the passion for playing sports, especially football, he transcended his love for sports into his art world.

SamCee used his art abilities to escape the negative aspects of the street life in Oakland. He began drawing pictures of friends and family. He even received a prestige award while in middle-school as Best Male Artist. Eventually his capability lead to creating designs for clothing, shoes and motorcycles. SamCee has never had any formal training. His talent is strictly God given.

SamCee has always enjoyed the creative abilities afforded to one through Art. For example, an individual having the capability to create vast colors to bring a portrait to life is an endless ingenuity. Or, an individual being able to transform a picture using his own imagination and inventiveness to develop an original piece of Art. SamCee conveys an array of art styles, such as, Pop, Realistic and Realism. His mediums of choice are acrylic, aerosols, airbrushing and pastels. SamCee uses canvas, woods and a variety of paper styles to express his works. He also paints murals.

SamCee was featured in the Oakland Tribune in 2006 with Bay Area Rap Artist E-40 during a record release party for E-40s Ghetto Report Card. The article gave note to SamCees artwork for a shirt he designed for the rap artist.

Currently, SamCee is working with Zack Follett of the Detroit Lions, who is also an accomplished artist. Together Zack and SamCee create life size cut-outs of NFL players. He has also worked with New York Giants player Justin Tuck and the Justin Tuck Charity Foundation, R.U.S.H. Literacy. SamCees artwork has been featured and sold at various charity events such as the University of California at Berkeley, Berkeley Grind Iron Golf event held in March 2009.

SamCee was acknowledged in the April/May 2009 edition of Source magazine.

He had the distinct honor to present portraits to the 2009 football Hall of Fame inductees, Rod Woodson, Bruce Smith and Ralph Wilson in August 09. He also designed T-shirts for the Marshawn Lynch football camp that is hosted every year by Marshawn.

SamCee uses his life experiences to give him inspiration and energy to create his works of art. His own personal motto is: Dreams come true. Go for whatever it is. Its what you want in life. Believe in it!
