About this user

Cacophonics is a four piece Latvian punk band formed in November 2002. The band's genre is melodic pop punk/powerpop influenced by the hardcore, postgrunge wave and bands such as Jimmy Eat World, Alkaline Trio, Green Day, NOFX, mixed together with socially active lyrics.

Until now Cacophonics has played more than 200 concerts, and after another year of many live performances in the Baltic States and the first tour to Russia on 1st June 2011 the band has released it`s new EP "Thank You for adding us".

The lineup of Cacophonics consists of Ingus (vocals, guitar, lyrics), Martins (lead guitar, backing vocals), Salvis (bass, backing vocals), Valerijs (drums).

Ingus and former members Imants and Eriks met in high school and established the band in late 2002. Year later after releasing first two demo Cds in 2003 Cacophonics soon became one of the most demanded bands in the local punk scene. On 2004 Martins joined the band and together Cacophonics recorded their third demo CD, songs of which were included in local punkrock compilations. During this time the band also took part in several contests for new bands often being awarded for the most attractive performance.

A half year later after the debut on radio new music broadcast with the single Celebration the band recorded a song We are Born to Make you Happy which reached Nr.2 in the Latvian Mainstream Rock Chart and until now is supposed to be the most well known Cacophonics` song.

On winter 2005/06 the band took part in Baltic New Music Contest with a song Perfect Star which remained in the Top10 for 4 months. After the release of the EP "Punkology" on 2006, Cacophonics performed at many concerts around the country, including Nokia Extreme Tour, a warm-up for Donots and a main stage appearance in the biggest Baltic open-air festival Baltic Beach Party. Two songs from "Punkology" also got included in several music compilations released in Lithuania, Germany, Russia and the USA.

During the following two years Cacophonics recorded another 5 singles, including Currency of Dreams being the first band`s song reaching Nr.1 in the new music chart and soon followed by a video.

By 2011 the band has played over 200gigs, including several concerts in Lithuania, Estonia and Russia and has shared the stage with many Latvian and international stars such as Brainstorm, Donots, Anathema, Blindside, Frank Turner, Insane and others. Right now Cacophonics has finished their second EP "Thank You for adding us" (released June 2011) and is preparing for another tours and recordings.
