Jethro Tull came a bit later (1967) than Golden Earring (1961). Maybe JT nicked the sound from GE?
This song is from 1970.
JT was still busy finding their sound back then.

I believe this ship has an old 2 stroke diesel engine which has to be reversed in order to propel it in the other direction. That didn't work out......
