Frankly speaking, although I felt that caning is too harsh for just overstay in a country, but extending your stay in a country is way too easy by having a click on your mouse. There's no excuses for you to be overstaying in Singapore when computers and internet are all over the place. Anyway, laws are there to serve as reminder instead of a punishment. If you think it that way, really, caning isn't a big matter. For example: You get canning for overstaying? Then just extend your visa! Canning for vandalism too? Why are you even doing that in the first place? You get what I mean? If you keep to the rules, those punishments are not going to work on you. Therefore I would said your worries are unnecessary, unless you're telling me you want to do some illegal stuffs in Singapore, and you don't want to get caned for that.
	butterflye2020 (1 year ago) Yes Singapore may be safe--So what! Switzerland has the lowest crime rate in the world and they do Not resort to the barbaric treatment that sadistic Singapore does. There is no excuse for treating a human being as an animal. There are only a few places on this earth that resort to this type of injustice and Singapore is one of them. I have never understood why the United Nations has sanctions against North Korea when Singapore ranks right up there with them. These human rights abuses are disgusting, degrading and a disgrace to Singapore. Stop acting like a third world country and stop the VIOLENCE. Other asian countries such as Hong Kong and Japan and others do not have this inhuman punishment and even brutal South Africa outlawed this abuse. More and more Singaporeans do not support this but are powerless to anything as they are controlled as slaves are by their authoritarian government. SHAME ON SINGAPORE!
