Yeah I've seen Shaun of the Dead. Pretty funny stuff. I still crack up at the start of the movie, where he keeps walking past the zombies without realising, lol. Can't believe I haven't seen Death at a Funeral yet.
That video was inspiring! All those everyday bystanders determined to shift that burning car. I really felt for the driver who was the business man, right? I couldn't think of many worse feelings than blaming yourself for seriously hurting or killing someone, or something.

Having said that- I find it's very helpful if you're having a down moment, to watch some dark comedy! Takes all the dark stuff and makes fun of it! Recently I've discovered all these wicked shows like League of Gentlemen, Big Train and Spaced, lol. Have you heard of them?
PS, do you have the link to that video of the biker? I hope it has a reasonably happy ending... ?

Again, very well said yourself... I think that's almost the one point of life, existence- to try as hard as you can to keep that good in you alive, as much as you can with what's given to you... And to help other people do that through selfless acts. Because if you don't work on doing that, what will all the dark stuff and the bullshit make you into? Seems like it's a never-ending fight against collatoral damage, and at any point you can be either a willing revolutionary or a scared conscript. Which one you pick- or which one other people pick for you- always determines how much shit you have to get through.

You're right. I'm convinced we have so much more potential than we seem to be willing to use. If we were all a little less self-centred... Did you see this awesome dude who was out kayaking and literally saved this dog's life? A drunk driver had hit it and its owner, the dog panicked, ran away from the scene and continued into the ocean injured and bleeding, and the guy saw him coming, stopped and pulled him out of the water! It's on my channel.

Which is why I can sometimes imagine, fantasise (in some really dark hours) about taking pills, or shooting myself, or opening an artery- but at the same time I know in a corner of my mind that those things are the twisted product of a mind in the grip of depression, or substances, or what have you. To me, it's important to be OK with the fact you can have really low points, get lost, but because I can watch myself in those times and realise in a way that I'm temporarily sick, I'm just in a different state of mind, it's also important to fight when you can. To do something good, to be kind to yourself, to others. Being down means you have the opportunity to get back up. Strength is in weakness. You learn the most in your darkest hours...

Exactly. Sometimes I think one of the major problems in today's society- that contributes to so many ills- is some human tendency to either take love for granted, or to find it hard to feel that people really deeply love you. It takes a real presence of mind, a total devotion to living in the moment, to really FEEL that. Have you ever noticed that? I mean, you can be hanging out with friends and family, but also be kind of lulled by it, like, here I am hanging with the folks, it's just another normal day- when really, you have to think how privileged, how LUCKY you are to have a family, or a friend, at all. Deep down, they all love you terribly...

For the record, though, hanging myself (or suicide in general) is something I believe I'd be least likely to do. Ever. As much as death gives meaning to life, as I said before, it doesn't mean it's not a shockingly sad tragedy to waste your potential by taking it into your own hands and 'exiting early'... How did we get onto this again!? :)

And I think a lot of it has to do with the concept of 'happiness'. There's this expectation that you have to be 'happy', and especially if you subscribe to that need, well, it mightn't take much to tip you over the edge, if you know what I mean. Thinking you have to be happy to have a life can take you to some terribly dark places, especially when you're not. That's when you struggle to find any kind of meaning. Then you might either self-destruct in the face of that paradox, or embrace a different religion to make life mean something- redemption through pain, for example. I mean, if you think about it, even workaholism is a form of that!

Hmmm... sounds so similar to Michael Hutchence. His autopsy revealed a mix of alcohol, cocaine, Prozac and other prescription drugs... You see, my philosophy is- never say never. Under 'normal' circumstances, you might never consider doing something, but under the right conditions, I think a person can do just about anything, including things they could 'never comprehend' doing before...

Thanks. I know the feeling of being insecure about your abilities. Kickass new background ;) I tend to think of death as the ultimate high, as no-one knows if death is final, lol! It's the only thing that gives life a proper meaning. As Shirley would say, it makes you "pull yourself up by your bootlaces", lol...
