What can be asserted without proof can be dismissed without proof. - Christopher Hitchens

Can we ever fully resolve the debate about evolution, come to a consensus?
That point has already been reached among scientists. We're only talking now about laymen, and the sort of laymen who still think it's an issue, the sort who don't really understand the issues in biology but kind of think they do. - Richard Dawkins in answer to a question raised by a reporter.

You final point presumes that, as is often the case with Theists, an Atheist never believed in god in the past or is ignorant of a specific religious teaching. You are presuming that I get my information second hand. Why not presume that I was once a Christian much like yourself, but unlike you I didnt dismiss opposing arguments when I came across them? The fact is I was once a Christian but the reason I was, I now know, was that I was ignorant of the real world and assumed what I had read in the Bible was historically and scientifically accurate. When I found out the truth it was a short step to Atheism... Knowledge is power and that is why the Church always tried to suppress the truth.

Fourth, again you need to understand why we say the Gospels contradict each other. It is not just because they do not match word for word, but because they blatantly state differing things! 2Tim 3:16 would suggest this sort of thing should not be apparent if the Bible is indeed inspired by your god and events did indeed happen as you believe. When the framework of the story contradicts then there is a problem... I gave you one example of many; you can read them all yourself by performing a very basic search on Google or suchlike. So how do you explain the contradiction I gave you?

Third, the early Church made it their business to destroy all contradictory accounts of the early life of Jesus and also of any competing claims from that period of time. This is well documented and is an obvious answer to your third point. Incidentally if there is no evidence someone existed, outside of hearsay stories, then there is NO reason to believe they existed. However, to say a religious person existed is a far cry to stating Jesus existed, in the form he did, doing the things he did and therefore I should believe or I go to Hell... I hope you see the distinction between evidence of a normal man and evidence of a man-god. Extraordinary claims require extraordinary evidence...

Second, the onus is on YOU to show how Christianity got started with this person named Jesus because you are asserting it happened. We have established you only have the NT to rely on (other books you cite only discuss the beliefs of early Christians and are written well after the event) and it is clear to those who have read the NT there is a lot of the NT that is wrong, based on contemporary writings from the time. So then, because we cannot rely on the NT (because it has been proven to be errant) you have got no reliable evidence...
