I'm so happy I found your channel! I've been contemplating teaching English in Eastern Europe/East Asia and if you have the time to answer this I'd appreciate you taking the time to do so. I watched your video on first language attrition and I'm curious to know if you studied either Korean or Japanese in a formal setting prior to re-locating to these countries. If not, did you find picking up the Japanese/Korean languages easy upon arrival? I'd like to study English in conjunction with another language; but not really sure if I want to invest money in studying an Asian language in America vs. studying independently and immersing myself in the language upon arrival in either Korea or Japan. Any advice? Thank you!

Hey Kevin, I just saw your video about bullying.
I'm from Brasil and I've sofred bullying at my school until i have around 11 or 12 years old, mostly because of my diferent name and my androgen apearance at that time (I'm half brazillian/japanese great-granddaughter).
It was terrible, sometimes I came home crying to my mom, and she always told me that being diferent is what make people beautifull and stand other. Unfortunately I didn't understand a word she said but over time I realized that people who are like that attracts equal and I was not. I understand that I did not have to show me better than them, I had to be better for myself, be conscious that they treated me that way because they have a closed mind.
So, what I'm trying to say is: if he will suffer prejudice, help him in every way you can, but the pain will make part of his growth, as was part of my own and made me a stronger person than before.

Awesome videos. Thank you for posting them. What ever happened to Cooney? I hear that he returned to the USA. After the earthquake, tsunamis and nuclear meltdowns, he made friends with the US Embassy and then he posted an angry video saying no danger from radiation. And that was 10 months ago. He has not made a new video. So I guess it is true that he left Tokyo.

just found your channel, & enjoying your videos, but they're so short! personally, i'd enjoy them 10x more if they were 10x longer :)

also, if you might have the ability to compare living as a vegetarian in japan vs. living as a vegetarian in s. korea i would really appreciate that. but if that's not something you can speak to, i understand. also, curious about the quality of experience of female expats in japan vs. korea, in various regards (socially, workplace treatment, etc. issues of gender equity / inequity in general). any perspective on that? thanks!
