Ya, me and Ned used to hang out together down at the river and shoot my grandfathers Henry lever at tree rats. We'd eat raw turtle meat and smoke this harsh mystery green that Ned carried around in a shoe box. Then we'd would go home and his step sister Anna, would bathe us in industrial grade bleach. A 17% Clorox solution, with ionized crik water & apple cider vinegar. Bobbie-Sue, his younger cousin would lead us out behind the barn and she would dry us with wild turkey feathers and pulverized rye grass. We'd sneak up in the loft and drink a clear liquid that smelled like lighter fluid, tasted like hell fire and had the kick of a very pissed & angry bull. Stored in a 55 gallon rusty steel drum, it was hand hoisted up there back in the late 1960's. Legend has it, that farm hand Zeb distilled that shine in a copper batch reactor, down at devils fork holler after he returned from Viet Nam in 68. Now, Im 48, got a wooden arm and two big toes on my left foot. I have my back shaved every other month with a Case folder by Crazy Sally. They let her come outside every other Sunday to wash up and boil potato skins. I used to kick for the Cleveland Browns back in the 50's.
