I agree wholeheartedly that the best music is in our past. For me I love southern rock, so its listening to ABB, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Outlaws, Marshall Tucker, Charlie Daniels, etc.

With that in mind, I have found that the best music nowadays is just under the surface, not really played on Top 40 rad...

Collectively the Allman Brothers have had 4 of the finest guitarists ever in the band at one time or another. Duane Allman, Dickie Betts, Warren Haynes, and Derek Trucks.

Molly Hatchet version is good, but its also a re-work of the original. Dave Hlubek put his stamp on it, but it doesn't compare to the Allman Brothers original is great.

I've always known of Doyle backing Eric Clapton and recording with the bigger artists, but just started recently listening to his solo stuff. Very good, its strange how he's flown under the radar all these years, but so it seems anymore with the REAL talented artists.

I first heard these guys last year, what a fresh kick in the ass of some pure southern rock. Great band, and I think the skies are the limit for these guys.

I think if they just retired the LS name, maybe just toured on as the Skynyrd Band or something close. Grateful Dead continue to tour as the Dead.

Eric Johnson is awesome live. I had a chance to see him play 3 Hendrix tunes recently on the Experience Hendrix tour. Very cool.
