It is possible to get a waiver, I recommend looking into it further and go over or around your recruiters head.  Recruiters can be misinformed, lazy, etc. My recruiter didn't know shit and I always got my answers from more informed people. I had asthma and ADD as a kid. The national guard recruiter said they won't take me, yet I was already in the Army (he didn't know that yet). But that was the first thing he said to me. So, don't take no for an answer.
