British Council

Social Enterprise in East Asia

6,064 views 4 months ago
Social enterprises tackle social and environmental problems and generate sustainable economic growth.

The British Council runs a nine-country social enterprise programme in East Asia that has trained more than 2,700 social entrepreneurs since 2009. We have partnered with 95 private, public and third-sector organisations in the region and in the UK to provide outstanding social entrepreneurs with access to funding, mentoring and UK expertise. We also convene policy dialogues, advise governments and raise awareness through media campaigns and presentations by UK experts.

This video explains why and how we support social entrepreneurs in East Asia and why this benefits the UK. It provides examples of the positive impact social entrepreneurs have on their communities. And it shows how UK expertise in social enterprise can be used to support a more inclusive, prosperous and sustainable future for us all.
