My father bought EB in 1972. I still have it complete. I also own (here in Costa Rica) the first edition of EB, three volumes and a lose paper that reads" This first edition of the Encyclopaedia Britannica was issued serially in sections from 1768 to 1771. The first bound volume of these sections was completed in 1769, th second in 1770 and the third-and last-in 1771. Subtitled "A Dictionary of the Arts and Sciences" the set contained 2,459 pages and 160 copperplate engravings by Andrew Bell". I serously doubt that this is a first edition but a conmemorative one instead. Does someone knows something about it?
