this group would be much lauded now as 'roots bluegrass', if heard unseen - awful wardrobe. Youre right spitoncat, Frank Zappa always very condescending to rock musicians and hippies of his day. He's missing something with our hindsight - simple dance music, regional sounds, culutural trends....
