Homeless for about a decade, traveling the country (hitching and hopping) coast to coast several times and supporting himself through odd jobs and hustling chess, Mike McCormack found himself at the Pride of Texas Shows Carnival, where he stayed on as an agent for two years. Returning to Milwaukee, he met Matt Brion,who shared his love of old blues. Listening to a Sonny Terry Album, Mike innocently remarked 'man I wish I could do that' To his surprise, Matt went into his room, emerged with a harmonica, and tossed it into his lap "learn" he said. It was at that moment that Brew City Junior (long dubbed Milwaukee Junior in the Carnival) was born. Ole Brew hit the road again, this time armed with a couple of Honers, and ready to take on the world, but it wasn't until his return yet again to his home town that he met a real playin' partner, Bryan Nebel. The two of them 'jined' up, and the rest is history.
