It depends what you are seeking in a guitar. For bluegrass few guitars beat a Martin. For ersatility few guitars beat a Gibson. When you find one that's a good one, nothing beats the pleasant single notes tonewise and strumming is complex and rich. For Gibsons, the right strings mean a big dif...

the more responsive / sensitive guitar will repond in kind with the condition of the strings. If your hands are - well oily, the strings will clog faster. String cleaner makes a big difference in string longevity. I use Martin 11 ga phos bronze. I clean clean em often and only change them period...
