@Curtanix Depends on how serious you are about wanting to try and what your overall goal is.. I'd get a dual action for sure. Don't go the cheapest, because this will only frustrate you more during the learning process. A couple of good all around workhorses are the Dagr or the Iwata HP-CS.

@kzkevin888 Yes you should always drain your tank. Even very little use will produce condensation inside the tank. It's best to drain your tank about once a week if you use it alot. Since you rarely use yours, I would just open my drain when Im done for the day and close it next time I use.

@crazyboutcamaro Your glass is NOT thick enough for the size tank that you are wanting to build. Check online for aquarium glass thickness calculators and it will give you size thickness of glass needed. I wouldn't do anything much over a 55g with 1/3 inch glass.
