Reading some of the reviews, comparisons are made between Lanza and Botticelli. But I do not believe that a comparison can be made. Lanza expresses drama, reverence and romantic interpretation--perhaps too much intensity, but one is never bored when Lanza sings.

@hkomm1 -- I agree. Barenboim I feel interprets everything he plays with perfection, including tempo. I love to watch him while playing the piano.

Since hearing Daniel Barenboim for the first time I have become his ardent fan. Everything he plays is perfectly interpreted. He surrounds me with the spell of the music. I love to watch him play.

@DrBenIngle -- According to Wikipedia, Pavarotti was an operatic tenor. There are tenors such as Placido Domingo who began as a baritone but due to his vocal mastery and technique, extended his range. I heard some say that Mario Lanza started as a baritone, but he surely could sing those fabulous...

Great acting--believable. But wish the two got together, at least GVIs at end.

The best interpretation, I believe. I love to watch Barenboim perform.

@weird4theworld -- This is a "spiritual," which were originated by black people. Jessye Norman commented that "People like to hear spirituals out of the mouths of black people."

@DandC25v12 -- Beautifully presented. I believe that Joseph Smith went through much fervent and intense feelings during his prayers. It may have been God's way of determining Joseph's sincerity and steadfastness for such a great task ahead and all that would pursue. Thank you for the inspiring work.

@menahemb -- At the conclusion of the performance, Jessye Norman acknowledged the lead violinist and shared the applause with him. We got to see him briefly.

The richness and depth of his singing moves my spirit. Reminds me of my Russian grandmother from Moscow. Her rich and fun-loving spirit is with me.

I've heard other versions by great coloraturas, but that is the way "Queen of the Night's Vengeance" should be sung by a dramatic soprano with evil intent. Superb. Bravo!!!!

This was one performance that I could relax and enjoy the whole beautifully flowing presentation. Elissa Czisny executed the extreme spirals and spins and tripples with ease. A stunning and beautiful skater.

I feel that the violin is too strong during the vocal. Of those interpretations I've listened to I prefer Jessye Norman's superior interpretation.

Beautiful presentation with Mario Lanza's reverent interpretation. The simplicity of the prayer penetrates the immensity of the universe to find God.

@fledgehog -- Yes, I have heard it performed with voice. No, I did not care for it no matter who was the artist. It is my belief that this selection is for the violin, especially Itzhak Perlman.

Beautiful interpretation and one of the best accompanists I have ever heard. He sets the mood from the beginning to the end.
