About Me:

I play both standard drumset and my primitive drum kit, which I call an Indigenous Roots Kit.

Currently I live in Las Vegas.

Most recently on standard drum kit I played 8 years with the Summit Underground Blues Band. Back in the pre-DJ heyday of the nightclub, I worked with the Nothin Fancy Band, The Fuzz Ducks, The Ultrons, Deluge, and the Dukes of Juke.

On the Indigenous Roots Kit I have worked with National Award winning Native American flute artist Looking Wolf, who won 'Best Flutist' at the NAMMYs. I have also gigged with Native American spoken word artist Loredo, blues vocalist Marci Curtis, hot young bluesman Ty Curtis, and rap poet '6KILLA'. You can learn more about these unique artists on google.

I also have a myspace page; myspace.com/bongodoggie and it has photos of me, my drums, and gig calendar.

My email address is bongodoggie@aol.com. Feel free to contact me.

ABOUT THE INDIGENOUS ROOTS DRUM KIT

This kit is my invention and I have put a lot of time and thought into the details.

On top are two Toca plastic didgeridoos on a homemade rack. There is a little sponge mounted on the side of one didge so I can wet a finger to do the slide sound on the conga without breaking the circular breathing.

The conga drums are either Gon Bops, or Skin on Skin, or Volcanos, depending on which video you are watching. They have seed pods and nut shell rattles suspended off them on plastic coat hangers, plus a doggie squeeky toy.

Below is a 14" djun djun with double pedal, laid on a rolled blanket. The beaters hit it high off-center but it doesn't matter, the drum sounds good.

On the right is a pedal with horizontally mounted cow bell. The mount is my invention and it has a closer throw than the verticle mounted ones, which give better control of volume and articulation.

To the left is a pedal with a Nigerian log drum, and next to it is a pedal with goat toenail shakers, another invention of mine. Both have reverse style beaters for horizontal action. Both pedals are articulate and can be played with dynamics.

So there is a total of 5 pedals, all of them DW 5000 series.

Influences:
The solo stuff I do is inspired by african and latin players, but is a fusion with the standard drum kit by including the foot pedals to with the hand drums.
