Literally " technique of the sabre ") is the art of the sabre of the samurai. It is up to the former(ancient) Japanese martial arts and enters the category of bujutsu, techniques warriors of feudal Japan. We consider that the kenjutsu is only taught in the former(ancient) schools or koryu with the exception of the modern forms, created after 1868. He can be learnt only with the soke ( Grand Master) or with the teachers having received the authorization of this last one, directly or indirectly for the more wide-spread schools. This condition of transmission in limit the distribution(broadcasting) but guarantees its authenticity. We practise the kenjutsu generally without protections even if sometimes we find protections of hand or of tête1. The training is made in two with a bokken or a shoto. The Book of five rings, also known under the name of Treaty of five wheels (the character rin establishing(constituting) the Japanese title Go rin no sho??? Mean as well "ring" as "wheel" or "circle") is a text of kenjutsu written by Musashi Miyamoto by 1645. Then 60-year-old Musashi withdraws in a cave and is engaged(surrenders) in an exercise of introspection and reflection on the art of the Japanese sabre. This book is generally considered as a classic of military strategy, in the style of the treaty on The Art of the war by Sun Zi ( Sun Tsu). As this last one, the book of five rings of Musashi goes beyond a simple treaty on the art of the sabre; the philosophic developments of the book can be also appreciated by a readership not follower of martial arts. Due to its elements on the war in general, it is also a book of military strategy but also exceeded this dimension to interest the businessmen in the resolution of conflictsThe hyoho niten ichi-ryu style in two sabres uses(employs) this work as textbook(manual worker) of technique and philosophy.Musashi calls up to the professionalism of the reader: he often points out during his work that the technical ornaments are excessive, and that to worry about it fact contrasts with the purpose of a technique which is to bring(shoot) down his(her) opponent. He also points out that the concepts detailed(retailed) in his(her,its) work are important in the fight, whether it is for a duel or for a battle. The details of his(her,its) theories are often followed by a call(appeal) to the pupil to examine them minutely by the practice instead of trying to learn(teach) by the simple reading In its work, described Musashi and advocates a style in two sabres using a katana in a hand and a wakisashi in the other one, what goes against the current of the traditional method which consisted in holding the katana two hands. But he(it) really clarifies this technique only in a part(party) dealing with the confrontation of several opponents at once(at the same time). Besides, the testimonies of his(her,its) numerous duels do not let appear that Musashi used himself two sabres at once(at the same time), in spite of the inaccuracies of the oral tradition. It was suggested that Musashi heard(understood) that the use of both sabres was have to be "simultaneous" but rather than it was necessary to acquire the control(master's degree) of the fight in two sabres in anticipation of the case where its use would be imperative(lead).
