As a vol firefighter in Oklahoma, I remember when Texaswas burning and so was Oklhaoma. It was sad to try to save homes and barns and when they catch on fire the wind made it nearly impossible to stop it. It hurt us deep to watch, but it made us fight harder to stop wildfires.

I found a truck similar to this in Tulsa,OK last week. I think it is an old Tulsa ladder, the ''FIRE DEPT'' is still written on side but the city name was removed and its a rust bucket.

For those that are arguing about what engine is in the pickup truck, it IS a 24V common rail Cummins. It is in an 03- Dodge. If you pause it at 3:14, youll see the mirrors that are a Dodge Ram factory extendable tow mirror, and the grab handle is from the 03- body style.

I live in tulsa and dont know how much TPD uses them, but I can hear EMSA (ambulance provider for city) using rumblers over a mile away. I work right off of accident alley (hwy 169) and always hear them running rumblers up and down 169.

Ive rolled my old mower once, going down a hill and it lost control, and my bro rolled it twice with a trailer load of rocks on it.

If this was from back in summer of 2011, I was out there on mutual aid from another dept on the other side of the town, this fire was insane.

Ive dealt with tom a time or two, and as a neighboring dept no one really liked him. He liked to barge in on other depts areas, he did us that way several times.

We have wail/yelp/horn, basically identical to this siren, and use mainly wail, on our two engines at my station they have wail yelp hilo and a electronic air horn sound on one and the hi lo gets attention quick. @neilutubename lt of tulsa cops are yes, but I know several tulsa firefighters and I dont think they are.

@bigrig587 Not really. Most trucks have the biggest and strongest Allison tranny available and in some cases the biggest engine, mostly Detroit. Also from what Ive heard the fire service specd engines dont have all the extra EPA stuff so they can get maximum power.

If you drop a brick on the q pedal, it saves your foot from holding it the whole time...

In the city here the undercover city police cars dont have city tags either. My dad worked for the city then and told me what to look for as they werent like your regular UC car and one was the tag, they started out with 3 certain letters.

I dont think those trucks are NFPA compliant...

@The1man2know Oh ok, we havent had any come in yet with the whats we call standard controls in the this size. I prefer the foot controlled boom over the joysticks for most use, although grading and some operations seems like joysticks do better. How do you like the air ride seat?

@rykember11 Yep. Ive heard they can draw over 100 amps. And some runs people stand on it for long periods of time, which is hard on alternator after a while.

@vampyboy94 I wonder the same thing. Some people ask me why grass fires are so dangerous, in a structure you can esacpe most of the time, in a wildfire, it chases you.

Sounds like a 6 or 8v92 detroit engine, those are awesome engines!

As far as Im concerned, Detroits are about the best engines available to the fire service. We have an engine with an 8V92TA Silver and it hauls! Tranny in HT-741. I wouldnt want any other engine other than a detroit if it was up to me.

@icrolla Not the ones here. Impacts are used to remove/replace the plug. I have a dealer I worked for change my oil, I personally know the mechanic/service writer and its always done right and everything is greased also. It pays to know good mechanics and leave a dealer on very good terms.
