Since 1897, rowing has enriched the lives of student athletes at U of T. Founded by Ned Hanlan, one of Canada's first sports heroes, the University of Toronto Rowing Team is the oldest rowing club in Canada. The U of T team has a long and successful history, including a silver medal for the men's eight in the 1924 Olympics. In more recent years, U of T rowers have competed successfully at the intercollegiate as well as national and Olympic levels.
