I like Ronalsd Howard and the whole series, but to me the REAL Holmes is Jeremy Brett! He's the one closest to Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's original, he shows Holmes' eccentric side to perfection. The Russian Holmes is next in line.

Es gibt viele Russen, die das Lied nicht rassistisch finden. Problematisch ist nur, wenn man alle - ob Russen, Türken, Amis, ... über einen Kamm schert. Das macht eine Aussage zum Vorurteil, nicht die Aussage selbst . Satire arbeitet eben mit Stereotypen..

That last sentence is sooo true!!!

That's what made me love the novel in the first place. Though not intended by the author, for me Knightley has become an allegory of Christ ... loving people despite their faults and transforming them by the power of love.

Awesome adaptation! Great job from all participants. Director, actors, ...captures the essence of the story and characters and makes the most of Jane Austen's irony without overdoing it. Just as a good book gets better with every reading, this series gets better with every watching! Bravo.

Joan Hickson is unbeatable as Miss Marple, and I I love the irony and the quarrel between Marple and Slack in this one!

Really, charming idea to amend for Brett's illness - to substitute Sherlock with Mycroft. They did a really good job. I, too, wish they had done more eps with Mycroft. I like him - though througout the story his character rather resembles Sherlock than the Mycroft of earlier episodes.
