Above all else, I am a scientist. My knowledge base is derived from demonstrable fact, and logical analysis thereof. No opinion should be reached lightly, and should never be inflexible - change is inevitable as new facts reveal themselves.
I take great pleasure in writing minor works of fiction. I take great interest in history, especially that of the United Kingdom - "British history is world history" to quote a long-past mentor.
I am an atheist in belief systems, ascribing much of my knowledge to my education in the sciences, Darwinism and Dawkins.
I am a firm believer in individual freedom - be it of expression, religion, or freedom from tyranny. Politically this manifests itself as equal opportunity, not equal outcome. Develped opinions on domestic politics manifests itself in non-subscription to any single UK political party, but rather differing manifesto points from numerous parties. Give and take between left and right always yields the lesser of the evils.
Mechanics and motorsports are long-held passions. "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is accepted nonsense.
I am always willing to learn, but I am not always willing to be taught. We only fail when we become inflexible. Then we can learn nothing.
