About Me:

I can only hope to write some music that stands the test of time... Even if it doesn't reach the masses. Take for instance, Randy Rhoads. He was way ahead of his time. In his limited time here on earth, he really made an impact. He only had 25 years to leave his total musical imprint. The best metal guitarist who ever lived died at 25 back in 1982, still unmatched. At that stage in musical evolution, the music that came before him was all he had to review. He had all of the technique along with the gift of musicality. I'm always closely listening to Randy's every guitar passage to hear every amazing, clever, subtle trick. So what kind of metal should i concentrate on? Randy Rhoads, Zeppelin, classic Metallica...? Or should I try and follow these new metal artists? They're very skilled, no one denies it. But mind you, they've had plenty of time to review all rock and metal up until this point and add to it? Most new metal artists in my opinion lack ingenuity in their songwriting, And falter in overall musical sensibility. I know the answer. New metal um...Not that great. Musically... But the here and now must serve as a transition to something better. It's a shame, most of these new metal bands have such awesome guitars in them too, but the screamo vocals make for uneasy and uncomfortable listening. See exceptions.. KSE, Trivium, a few others (in real metal). Inevitably, most screamo metal will, as a result be a mere flash in the pan. Take note though, we are listening to these guitars on the fly. We Know what has been written and played. And so it is written... Hence the reason I'm here, underground on youtube listening to guitar tracks and covers, close up with real people. Minus the screamo vocals. For me the words and vocals are secondary to the sound of the music anyway. Lyrics and vocals AS IT PERTAINS TO ME, are filler. If they happen to be good and sound great, BONUS. That which makes a rock band great. I'm a guitar player, for the most part, I listen and evaluate guitarists and guitar parts "the riff" the backbone of rock music. Be that as it may. I nor my two hands, may not be able to perform the way I long for, but I fully understand and recognize great guitar when I hear it and even more when I see it. I know how difficult it is to pull off these things on guitar and equally, how difficult it is to create great guitar music being that so much has already been done. SO MUCH respect to guitarists who work at it, envy to those who just seem to have it. But guitar is still a young instrument with PLENTY untapped. Right hand technique, Picking and muting... To play cleanly without unwanted noise from the stubborn strings and electronics, begging for your hands and fingers to cooperate consistently. Both hands working in conjunction on the most dynamic of all the instruments. Practice, repetition, control, muscle memory, the desire to be a great and innovative guitarist.

7 Guitar Regrets:
1. Not understanding the importance, or emphasizing the focus on right hand technique as a budding young guitarist. You never get that time back.
2. Not practicing enough.
3. Developing the habit of not watching my hands at work.
4. Applying so much effort on learning music theory, being confined by it, taking away from my musicality and creativity.
5. Not getting off my ass to find and work with other musicians.
6. Having no access to a rhythm section.
7. Not having the natural ability to easily connect the dots musically.
