About this user
Hi Everyone, Im blkmoet27 an avid music lover. My passion for music was kindled in the mid / late sixties through my parents introduction of Jamaican, Blue Beat, Reggae and SKA music in to our home as they retained a strong connection with our cultural roots. These tunes and roots were strengthened by my youth club days where I followed sound systems which amplified my tastes for more diverse and yet roots-based-music. This led me to begin to dip my toe in to the unfamiliar, yet, intriguing world of R'nB, Soul and Jazz. At the tender age of 15 [mid-1970s] I won a ticket to a Marvin Gaye concert at The Apollo Theatre [UK] where I sat in the presence of what I can only describe as a genius. The following day I used all my pocket money to quench my thirst for my newly found love. The following years found me buying records, attending concerts and house parties where I developed a deeper affiliation with music and the power it commanded to reach people on an emotional level. Needless to say my record collection began to swell beyond my wildest dreams I can say that now as at the time I was consumed with passions of being in my music. The late 80s / early 90s brought with it the advent of pirate-radio, where I reluctantly accepted the role of DJ, after being approached by a local pirate station. This role catapulted me in to the music limelight. At this point my business head switched on and I became a promoter using my radio and people skills to promote the business side. From this point I began to meet and work with numerous artists from the Lover Rock and UK Soul scenes, many are featured on my YouTube channel. This role entailed travel and meeting a range of artists across the UK, US and Caribbean. My collection grew from cassette tapes, cartridges, reel-to-reel, 12 / LP vinyls, and CD recordings. Such was the extent of my passion that the shear quantity of the collection became so huge that I had to build an extension to my family home. [this brings us to the mid 90s]. Between the late 90s and the early 00s I decided to let-go of my collection due a shift in my work commitments and family life. I remain to date [2009] a connoisseur of what I refer to as life music. If you are in tune with my channel you will witness the variety of my music. Being UK borne of Caribbean parentage my roots will always be in reggae music but my heart is with the original songwriter / lyricist. I would like to say a huge thank you to everyone who has supported and encouraged me on this channel old and not so old. Keep messaging me your requests. Lets keep music alive. YouTube is for fun and personal choice. Let us not forget that.
