blind effigy! went through a rough start in the beginning - starting out as only a dream in 2004. Before forming a solid core on the musical word, blind effigy!'s name went through many rapid name changes before coming to a conclusion on September 2nd, 2007. Even before then, 'blind effigy!' has always had the music with them. New Vogue Children, Quirk Connections of the Western Transaction, and the Rainbow Connection. All these past names took on a different shade of music. NVC was a heavy onset of trance-like pop mixed with some industrial beats. QCotWT was purely indie pop/rock/alternative styles, and tRC was all about dance music.

It wasn't until sole member, Evan, stumbled across the Dresden Dolls to help define his sound. Evan has always had the punk cabaret/circus rock vibe in him, but never found anything to open up that door. When he came across other bands such as Gogol Bordello, the Hidden Cameras, Xiu Xiu, and World/Inferno Friendship Society - he realized that the indie scene, and the 'outsider' genre fit him perfectly. His only instrument, the keyboard, confused him in the past as he wondered how to make his music worth listening to. The aid of his influences made him discover that the piano can kick ass as hard as any other band out there.

blind effigy!'s genre is self described as "Atheist" Punk Piano, but Evan also includes Cabaret Pop, and Indie. Some other influential genre's are Gypsy Rock and Anti-Folk.
