the definitive rocksteady/reggae version was by The Techniques, but my favorite was by Bunny Brown & The Chosen Few... The Impressions and The Temptations were the inspiration for many rocksteady and reggae classics.

sorry, should have been more clear.... Up Park Camp is the main JDF base, and on that property is the original Gun Court and next to that, the Red Fence Detention Center, where the govt. kept political figures like Pearnell Charles and Babsy Grange.

the actual studio was upstairs, but that was the console and the tape machine in storage for sure..

would have been about 21 or 22 or so in 1967, this looks to be a photo from the Studio One days, so he's probably 18 or 19 here.

it's not ska at all - it's reggae. there's lots of reggae that has nothing at all to do with Rastafari (most Jamaicans were quite conservative then, and Rastas were looked down upon and persecuted well into the 70's) . Ska had run it's course by mid 1966, and rocksteady took over ...

the earliesn it would have been sometime in 1969 - it's pretty basic, run off the typical T.I. master 2 track of the era - rhythm on one track, vocal on the other. there's reverb on the vocal and not much else. he was cutting stuff for Duke Reid at the time.

but it's hard to say ...
