A few tips:

Become aware of the cone of the flame. That's the hottest part. Heat the parts up with the cone. I don't know what you're putting on the parts, but it's not the cone.

That's totally Greg and more than likely his mom behind the camera. I wish I had copies of all of those old videos. Every drummer around wanted to be able to play like Greg. I could watch his foot for hours, and Tim and James were just awesome.
