Its a sad thing to see america drop from 87 % of satallite launches to less than 25 % in just 2 years, sadder to see, the end of shuttle 2 and constellation. disgusting to watch, the charade of privatizing space exploration as a method of diverting ( Stealing ) funds. Stupid, to see and hear, lawyers, directing acience, or in the case of the USA, the end of proactive space exploration, allowing other countries to do the engineering design and manufacturing of even lowearth platforms, the leading edge of military science---pay pal. ha ha ha.

The Orion spacecraft would essentially have served as the Space Shuttle, being reusable for up to 10 flights and having a partially reusable launch vehicle (Ares 1). In addition to being orbit capable, Orion will be suited for deep space missions, such as the moon or asteroids when completed (it has been preserved out of the entire Constellation Systems Program). It is undecided, however, what Orion will now be launched by.

In a response to your question: It was decided that the Space Shuttle program was to be ended around this time back in 2004. To replace it the Constellation Program would start launching people to the ISS, then back to the Moon and subsequently Mars, but that was canceled in favor of funding commercial vehicles to ferry people to the International Space Station. Until these commercial vehicles come on line Astronauts will launch on the Soyuz.

hahahaha, not at all. I just think it's unreasonable to ask of humans who supposedly are imperfect so they need to construct an entity to rule over them, and expect that entity (which is composed of humans anyway) to serve them. The "State as Servant" or "State as Umpire" mentality to me doesn't make much sense. What forces the government to do that? Sometimes I feel a little nuts for holding a different view, but I do not think there is such a thing as "good government" as the word is traditionally used. I mean, everyone running around giving half their property away to protect their property is quite strange to me.
