On one hand one of my favorite songs from an A&C movie. On the other hand, a product of Universal movies not having faith in A&C. The first scene and this last scene were added later. The original movie stared with A&C working in a gas station and ended with Costello in bed, pulling a chord to su...

Dave Clark was NOT a great composer. He was a blood sucking LEACH. Because was written by Ron Ryan as well as Anyway you want it. Clark tried to screw Ryan out of the royalties and finally settled with him but NEVER giving him writing credits.

my first "good" guitar was a Gibson J-50. I later bought a Custom Dove and owned it 1 day. The back for some unknown reason wasn't joined together. Next was my J-200. It had the thinnest neck I've ever seen on an acoustic guitar (1 1/2 in). Your recording reminds me that MAYBE I should have held ...

Dave sang the verses. Mike and Dave (and maybe Lenny) sang the chorus. Mike and Lenny sang together more than I realized. I thought most of the vocals were overdubs of Mike but it turns out a great deal of the time it was Mike and Lenny singing together.

@Polyphemus47 I would have LOVED to hear the Dave Clark Five version of this song. They did the ORIGINAL demo because they were working with the song writer. The Beatles listened to the DC5's version, but didn't like it.

@gretschviking To me, one of the saddest things about the music of the DC5 was not allowing Mike Smith to use his piano talents on their records. Mike was probably the best pianists during the British Invasion but never played anything beyond basic R&R. Mike was classically trained and could play...

Welcome to 1981 Alex Drake!
I actually bought two copies of this album because they were going for $1. I wish I could take the time to digitize this album and remove any pops. I've done it before with other rare albums (my favorite was a double album by the DC5 with many of their hits in stereo).
