Theism: The Lack of Belief in Metaphysical Naturalism
"science assumes natural laws. It studies things that are within those parameters. It's not the best method to figure that out. I think Veritas has a great video on this." Do you mean that science isn't a good tool for figuring out right and wrong? (9 hours ago)

"Second, is science the ONLY way to prove anything?" Science doesn't deal with proof. But we've found that it's the only way we have to gather reliable knowledge about the world (outside of logical, mathematical and axiomatic truths). Whether or not the world includes invisible beings, an afterlife, and other things of the supernatural kind, science represents the only trustworthy method we have for figuring it all out. (10 hours ago)

"it's between theism and naturalism." I agree that that seems closer to where the interesting questions are. But i think the competitors are supernaturalism vs naturalism. (12 hours ago)

"the context here fits "natural" more than axiomatic. And axiomatic would be a rational basis, not a non-rational one." Maybe you're right, I'm not sure. I don't have anything invested in the distinction. (13 hours ago)

"A true belief founded on a false or non-rational basis is equally irrational as a false belief founded on a false or non-rational basis." Some beliefs are not formed through the application of reason, but are axiomatic. In these cases it makes more sense to consider them as being 'arational' beliefs instead of irrational ones.
