I doubt I would have gotten this far with out the internet. Mid teens. I really do like my setup. It works just great. Good luck on the castings.

Dude, I wish I had internet when I was your age. Wait--how old are you? I would have been casting a long time ago. You've got a sweet setup. I'm just starting out with one aluminum casting in a flower pot. Getting ready...hope to be casting in a week or so.

Those cross slides are expensive to buy and I think making one would be a great idea. Please let me know how it turns out. You got me thinking about the process. I've used a router to machine aluminum before so that could possibly aid in making.

Hey thanks. Was it the gingery lathe? I plan on eventually making the cross slide for it and mounting it to my wood lathe.

I cast a few 1 or 2 lb bronze items about 25 years ago using similar methods. After several attempts I also got some good results. Wanted to try making a small metal cutting lathe out of aluminum but never did. Still hope to some day. Your videos are great and brought back some fond memories to this old foundry man at heart. Keep up the good work!

And I also will be upgrading my foundry once I have money to do so. Right now it is kind of what your first foundry was.
