I'd like to meet the physicist who can logically explain how the ball could have possibly caromed 10 yards backward if it ever touched Frenchy Fuqua. The force of Tatum hitting Frenchy and the ball is what sent it back to Franco.

I would think somewhere around 1990. The show was "Later" with Bob Costas (his only foray outside of sports on NBC) It aired after Letterman (and Conan) around 1:30 AM on the East. IIRC Later ran from 1988-1995, but I'm not 100% sure on that.

This game showed me why Paul Hackett wasn't "head coach" worthy. Too bad Pitt (and USC) didn't take the hint.

I think after that play at the 7:10 mark, Mel Blount knew it was time to retire. This was also the last game in a Steeler jersey for Fanco and Terry as well. This game was brutal, and an indicator that the mid to late 80's were gonna be a rough time for Steeler football.

Nice! The things I remember the most from this one was Huey Lewis and the News National Anthem (at their peak of popularity) and how Gooden and Fernando struck out 6 straight AL hitters.
