What I don't understand---maybe because I'm not a musical genious---is that Todd is such a wordsmith and a melodist---why not just do pretty songs? For the last 25 years he has been very avante garde, weird in my view---why? His pretty, normal songs are All Time. Why delve into the weird?

I agree with someone who said we tend to hear what we want on these EVPS. Seems to me one could interpret that EVP as "Killer", not "Kill Her". If the former, the ghost has good taste---she's "killer" good looking.

To get in on the guitar discussion---this is the third guitar I've seen her use "live" on this song. I agree there needs to be a strong "Rick" presence, but the lead guitar player needs that, no? A Tele doesn't do it for me.

What I have always found remarkable about this piece is the acoustic guitar fanciness. I've always assumed it was Messina. I know he also played bass on this album, after Meisner left. It's very fine, any player will tell you that. Unusually good song, I think.

I'm the bad guy. I love Chet, and I love this song. The lead player for Orleans, however, does a better job in my opinion. So, I was a little disappointed in this. I hasten to add, that while I'm a player, I couldn't get close to either version. Chet should have played a Gretsch, maybe.
