Welcome to the YouTube home of the "Company of Holyrood". Based near Southampton in the county of Hampshire in southern England, we are one of the few groups in England to research, practise and demonstrate the abilities and realities of the Medieval military archer of the period later known as the Hundred Years War (1337 - 1453).

If you have a question about any of my videos, or of anything to do with longbow archery, then please feel free to pm me, or add a comment. All I ask is that you read through the other comments first, as I often get asked the same question over and over, despite the answer being clearly posted below.

Many thanks.

Hey Nick, stumbled across one of your videos and ended up watching nearly all of them! Can't say that I'm much for the whole re-enactment scene or even archery, but I am glad that there are people out there keeping these traditions alive.

Hey. I love your videos. Im 14 and seriously into everything to do with english longbows and warbows and things like battle of azincourt and crecy and the traditional archer etc. first up, Atm im shooting a light 28 pound (weighed it at my club today) longbow which i bought second hand from a friend at a club. I was wondering what you think a suitable poundage would be for me bearing in mind that i probably wont be buying one for at least 6 months - a year. i dont think i want something too heavy to start off with but i want to start shooting serious distances and through shooting hopefully put on a bit of muscle :P lol. I am hopefully going to get into making my own arrows now as i would enjoy it and its a darn sight cheaper than buying ready made arrows. thnx (sorry the comments a bit meaty :S) i live in eastleigh next to southampton btw and shoot at AC Delco bowmen club which is predominantly recurve but we've got our own little 'unit' of 'rea' archers' :P. Thnx.
