"Better a warrior in the garden than a gardener at war"
-Japanese proverb
FDR was human garbage, and here are my thoughts on the matter.
FDR forced everyone to trade in their gold at $20 an ounce for fiat currency, then revalued the currency to $35 for an ounce of gold. So he basically forced people to give him $875 so he could give them back $500.
FDR also payed farmers to destroy their own crops to artificially keep crop prices high. People were starving in this country, but FDR still thought it was a good idea to keep food prices artificially high and lower the supply of food.
Oh yeah, don't forget he would have his goon squad go and shoot milk cows to keep the price of milk high. Why the brainwashed admire this man I will never know.
Also, unemployment was 15-25% up until 1940, which IMO shows that his policies didn't do any good. All he did was devalue the currency by 43%, delay the depression from ending with his New Deal policies, and force people to give up their gold.
History forget's that the US Supreme Court ruled that his "new deal" was unconstitutional but fdr used strong arm tactics. He threatened to have more appointments to the court to make the total number of justices 13 so his **** would get passed.
FDR?? seriously LOL if American's were not so brain washed by liberal education and media in this country I would think this was a sick joke.
FDR was a tyrant, If the bastard hadn't died we would have a totalitarian dictatorship by now.
Even the Democrats of the day were like ohh f--k we can't let that **** happen again, hello 22nd amendment.
And let's not forget the Japanese he locked in prison camp's
"we are spending more money than we have ever spent before and it does not work....we have never made good on our promises...I say after eight years of this administration we have just as much unemployment as when we started....and an enormous debt to boot"
Henry morgenthau FDR Treasury Secretary 1939
As a permanent fix... no.
As a temporary fix (1-3 years)... barely.
FDR is an example where if not looked at with bias eyes we can see him & Keynesian policies fail:
Statistically, the economy bottomed in 1932. Market indexes, unemployment, production, etc.
The only real budget cutting occured early in 1933 by cutting federal employee wages. The first two years alone yielded huge budget deficits and from 1933 to 1941 essentially doubled the national debt.
* The short-term growth of the economy (1934-1937) did not increase the government's revenue substantially enough to off-set the costs of the New Deal's programs. (That is, economic growth resulting in more taxes paid could not sustain the government spending).
Regulating farm prices by cutting farm production. The costs, of course, were passed to the general public, resulting in no substantial benefit. However the Resettlement Administration was created to provide loans for farmers to purchase land to farm, often in a collectivist manner. Circular reasoning?
Created the National Recovery Administration attempting to allow businesses to "set" prices. Set in motion minimum wage, to artificial increase the costs of products by increase labor wages arbitrarily. Backwards approach to effective economic growth. The unemployment rate did decreased from 1933-1935, yet stagnated until spiking during the 1937 recession. Production stagnated also from
1935-1937. Why? Because the employer was the government, not from private business job growth & hiring more employees.
*This is unsustainable

Newt Gingrich is a fraud/ fake in every respect.
how can U classify anyone who campaigned 4 Nelson Rockefeller a conservative?
Let alone recommend Alvin Toffler's reading material like he did when he suggested reading for Congress when he became speaker.
Quote from Toffler in regard to Thomas Jefferson, for this wisdom, above all, thank you Mr. Jefferson, who helped create the system that served us so well and for so long, and that now must, in its turn, DIE AND BE REPLACED
hardly the mentality of authors that should be read in the movement for liberty.
I implore all people who see this to watch the video in the link below to understand the true vile despicable deceitful, Newt Gingrich.

Regarding the whole Conservative-Libertarian distinction I agree that there are differences, though there are things in common too. What's most important in my eyes is that we create a world where mutually beneficial volunatryism can occur.
