I didn't realize there was a Vietnamese Theravada sangha. It was my understanding that most, if not all, Vietnamese Buddhists practiced Mahayana Buddhism. But apparently there's more of a diverse Vietnamese Buddhist community than I originally thought!

Personal responsibility may be lacking but the sin itself can remain despite your " good intentions". Religions lack perfection in their methods but Jesus does not lack in his salvation. You are "right" in your observation that .. FAITH WITHOUT ACTS IS DEAD. I am sure you know where that came from..and yes... that "religion" does have that...even if it was not properly taught to you. Dont throw the baby out with the bath water.. you have done this. Personal responsibility does not mean making a rash choice based on your own faulty understanding.. as you did.

This spoke to me on SO many levels--thank you so much for sharing these videos. I was raised pentecostal and converted to the Roman Catholic church earlier this year, only to find that my inner value system and philosophical beliefs did not mesh well with mainstream Christianity. The message of peace is universal and shouldn't be clouded by matters of politics--especially when attempts are made to blend politics and morality.
