About Me:

To quote Popeye, I yam what I yam: Southern Belle, Georgia Peach, proud country girl, happily married wife, and mom to seven "furkids". I'm an imperfect woman who strives each day to love my Lord God and my fellow man. I need forgiveness when I fail (which is often!) and in turn I try to extend it to others. What I want to be said of me when I leave this world can be summed up in two small words: "She tried".

POEMS, QUOTES, JOKES, & ETC

"A friend is one to whom one may pour out all the contents of one's heart, chaff and grain together, knowing that the gentlest of hands will take and sift it, keep what is worth keeping, and with a breath of kindness, blow the rest away." ~ Dinah M. M. Craik

"Heaven goes by favor. If it went by merit, you would stay out and your dog would go in." ~ Mark Twain

"I once had a rose named after me and I was very flattered. But I was not pleased to read the description in the catalogue: no good in a bed, but fine up against a wall." ~ Eleanor Roosevelt

"I get letters from people who say, 'What have you got against women?' What could I possibly have against women? I've married three of them. I don't think I'll get married again. Every five years or so, I'll just find a woman I don't like and give her a house." ~ Lewis Grizzard

My fave Bible verse is Psalm 27:10: "Though my mother and father forsake me, the Lord will receive me". I live out the truth of this verse every day.

Music:
I have very varied, eclectic tastes: rock, pop, Britpop, 60's Brit invasion, country, bluegrass, rockabilly, Contemporay Christian, some gospel, jazz, r&b, soul, funk, blues, classical, etc. The 50's-80's are my fave eras, though I like a lot of modern music as well. Elvis Presley is my very favorite entertainer. I've been a fan of his since in my mother's womb. Blue Suede Shoes and Jesus Loves Me are the first songs I learned to sing as a toddler. The Moody Blues are my absolute favorite band/group. I am also a huge fan of: Noel Gallagher, Paolo Nutini, Bobby Darin, Bob Dylan, John Denver, Paul McCartney, George Harrison, Bob Seger, Boz Skaggs, Charley Pride, Johnny Cash, Marty Stuart, Gordon Lightfoot, Dolly Parton, Adele, Patti LaBelle, Mama Cass, KT Tunstall, Karen Carpenter, Oasis, The Band, The Eagles, The Bee Gees, Coldplay, The Verve, and Mumford & Sons. I have too many other fave artists to try to list them all here! (I recently deleted my huge alphabetical faves list to save space!)
Books:
There's nothing I'd rather do than pass my time reading a good book. If it's in print, I'll probably give it a try. None of this e-book, kindle, or book on tape/cd stuff for me. I have to see, smell, and hold a real book! The Holy Bible is my very favorite book and is my only self-help book and instruction manual. My fave book genres are: classics, poetry, biographies/autobiographies, history, thrillers, "themed" mysteries, crime drama, classic mysteries, true crime, medical mysteries, forensics, "who-dunits". There's not enough room here to even begin to list some of my favorite books. However, a few of my favorite authors are: Jane Austen, David Baldacci, The Brontes, Lillian J Broun, Mary H Clark, Lee Child, Lincoln Child, Michael Connelly, Robin Cook, Patricia Cornwell, Janet Dailey, Janet Evanovich, Tess Gerritsen, Heather Graham, Sue Grafton, Lewis Grizzard, Tami Hoag, Terry Kay, Stephen King, Dean Koontz, C.S. Lewis, Max Lucado, Ann Rule, Shakespeare, John Steinbeck, Mark Twain, Stuart Woods... and many many more!
