Rabbi Judah Eisenberg of Lask sustained 3 non-drop slow SS field hangings for assault and gross public humiliation of a Nazi commandant. So instead of hanging two Jews that would have certainly died a torturous death if not for R. Judah Eisenberg's intervention he got to hang the same Jew three times -- not a bad sadistic entertainment tradeoff. After the third hanging the Nazi commandant let him go. Apparently he was impressed or sensed that something is not quite right here. Contra paratum vix fortuna vires habet!
