Keen to learn, I have a leading-edge science background, with a sense of global responsibility. When I took a B.Sci Chemistry course I worked hard with existing institutions such as ChemSoc, gaining respect and influence. I would make announcements at lectures, tutorials, and sharing a lab with other students. I have a respectful and constructive relationship with the few colleagues who disagree with my passionate environmentalism, and who plan to join the oil industry. Yet I've argued my way into the mainstream. My coaching capability came into play when I assisted in my expert area and dissolved a fellow science writer's worries about saving the world. I gave maths and IT tuition. In governance and pressure-groups I built and sustained releationships with 'green' individuals who share common goals such as celebrating our green campus with a free greenfields festival, advocating environmental justice.
Currently living in the London Borough of Barnet, I would be flexible to travel. I am confident cyclist and wish to learn to drive specialist vehicles.
My computer skills are unusually good and I share them with others. I managed my own recovery programme for aluminium, I was a supervisor-level volunteer in a scheme to teach computing confidence to children in a twinned school.
I am enthusiastic to get teeth into the growing environmental and recycling legislation. I made it my business to read a briefing for working in the chemical industry, by REACH expert Anne Chapman. I discussed WEEE with 3 reps from SIMS - the world's largest recycling group, when they held a drop in session. There has to be a reward for those who conserve, and polluters will criminal justice. My chemistry background enables me to work with chemical engineers and other disciplines necessary to which my high-level knowledge and understanding is fundamental.

I understand there are many good reasons to go green, but 'carrot' needs 'stick'. I was involved in research on the pharmaceutical industry in my 5-day work experience at the former Department for Trade and Industry in 2005. My experimental research and cleaning up in the laboratory taught me to construct COSHH assessments (Control of Substances Hazardous to Health) as well as high-pressure processes regulated by the HSE. Finally I studied a non-chemistry module about &amp;quot;environmental science and society&amp;quot;, which earned me a distinction.

Illegal Activity Detection and Enforcement was tackled in an academic essay I wrote on 'heavy metals in the environment' which studied the main sources and how to detect a breach of environmental standards using specialist instrumentation. My understanding of the fundamentals of chemicals in industry is key to any intelligence-led Environmental Crime Team. With my experience with Reading Scientific Services Ltd. I have demonstrated that I am keen to work with the Forensic Science Service and Association of Public Analysts who could produce evidence by chemically analysing samples from the environment.

Volunteering opportunities allowed me to work to promote direct action to deliver climate justice. The Camp for Climate Action's team of legal observers provided training for confrontational situations. The important thing is to identify and escape threats to safety. In enforcement I would have to make sure that no colleague was left in a sticky situation without support. I am a member of the Environmental Law Foundation and donated lots of money to the cause. I did not take a gap year after A-levels but volunteered for a 10-week opportunity in Kayamandi Township, just before my degree, where I learned about South African culture. In my holidays I continued as a polite and friendly volunteer, culminating in Glastonbury 2007 working at the famous high-security gates, after which I focused on temporary laboratory work. Later I used my media skills in coal-country, where people may not see environmental issues as vital. For my student magazine, Impact, I covered the case of the 11 activists charged with criminal trespass in a drastic action against coal entering a large power station on my route to Nottingham. The judge decided that the government has to be key in environmental protection, and that the autonomous individuals who hurriedly took action to stop climate change, had not taken enough steps to assess the risks in that enforcement action.

Some news reports I read of enforcement operations is inspirational and I would be proud to lead and inspire in my work with the green-police.
