Congratulations to these musicians for taking the movement at the Andante Cantabile tempo specified in the score. Many players, including very eminent players, take this movement almost as an Adagio.

THe music is of course beautiful, but I think that the performers take it too slowly. The score is marked "andante cantabile" but this is more like adagio than andante. There is a misbalance in the recording - just listen to the first variation, where the piano accompaniment almost drowns out t...

What a delight! I've not heard of the Amstel Quartet before but will definitely look out for them in future. I'm familiar with the piece in its original form (for strings) but I'm sure that if Mozart were still around he would enjoy this version.
