About this user

I've spent my life looking through a lens, and I love it. After graduating with a degree in film & television studies at West Surrey College of Art & Design (1984), I worked with Acacia Films before transferring into cameras (with Crow Films) until 1990, when I went freelance.

I like to think that the experience I've gained over the years lets me shoot by reflex when under pressure and in a style both sympathetic to the subject and sensitive to the film's approach. I'll also offer the Director creative ideas and options whenever sought.

Supplying a crew who are both 100%professional and fun to be around is also important to me -- I like filming to be an enjoyable experience for all involved, even when shooting challenging locations & subjects.

If you look for a cameraman who instinctively knows how to turn available light to the best advantage, can quickly set & light a simple or complicated scene, or knows how to pull in a gaffer and sparks to spend a day pre-lighting a full studio shoot; I have experience in all these areas. And it's not only technical skills that count; inter-personnel skills are key, and I like to build positive working relationships and friendships quickly, and then work at making them stronger.
