Previously I had shown the "guts" of U-571 mode, now here is the mode working in-game. It was actually one of the more complicated parts of the machine, but it was fun to come up with and provides some old-school animation that is also part of the gameplay!
It even has fake "lighting" that shines in the periscope randomly, with sound.

Behind my talking Fish Head I have a view of the Pan Pacific Auditorium (now long gone), because Paxton walked in front of it in the video. No reference is too vague for this machine!

At the back of the board will be a periscope (in reference to U-571) and its "view" will be represented by a cut out hole with mechanical animation behind it. This is a homage to the older pinballs that used this sort of animation in the backbox, playfield, etc.
Hit a certain target when the sub gets in your sights for a bonus. The "view" will be backlit too and synchronized to sound.
