One of the great lost albums of the '60s. There is a god!

When you think of the three essential versions of this song (Deniece, Laua, Royalettes), the amazing thing is that they are all great. Each version helps to define the era in which they were recorded.

What's incredible about this cut is that it's a cast of thousands with respect to influences. Gene Vincent, Elvis, Del Shannon, but the secret ingredient is a dash of Lou Christie. Those background vocals are pure Lou.

I'll never understand why this wasn't a bigger hit. Everything was good in 1966, and this is no exception.

@Jibjub80 There's nothing like Ian Stewart's organ-only intro to take me back to the frosty winter of 1964. The European version is great, no doubt, but always liked the more ethereal, if somewhat sloppier, US version.
